The Day Dad Took Walker to See Santa

I had made several attempts during the Christmas season to get Walker to see Santa. We ran into several issues....forgot my camera, a 4 hour wait, Santa was on a break and lastly Matt didn't want to wait in the short line with 4 families in front of us. Yes, it took 5 trips before he successfully met the "big guy". Since Matt didn't want to wait in the short line of a few families he promised me that he would take Walker to sit on Santa's lap the following weekend, the weekend before Christmas. I told him he was crazy, but he insisted! Well, Matt ended up taking Walker and gave me a sob story about waiting in line for 2 and a half hours. He, of course, got loads of sympathy from my mom and I until we found out a week later that he had actually gone Christmas shopping and only waited in line for 25 minutes. Anyway, we got some classic pictures! Walker was so upset the whole time. Maybe because someone (we won't say who) put his hat on backwards and it was covering his eyes and the tag was itching his forehead. In truth, I am so happy to have a wonderful husband who is an amazing dad. Walker is a blessed little boy!

Charlie Brown Christmas Tree

It is true...I am just now blogging about our Christmas happenings. I am so behind and life has been crazy lately! So do you remember the pictures of our gorgeous Christmas tree from the post below....in case you don't here is a reminder...

Doesn't it look great?! Well, get a good look because that is the tree in it's prime. Things went down hill, way down hill hours after this. After "securely" tying the tree to the top of our car we headed back to Dallas. We had a stop several times and tighten the ropes and Matt had me periodically checking to make sure that the tree was still on top of the car. Like we wouldn't know if a huge Christmas tree flew off of our car. After arriving home and finding that the tree having lost about half of the pine needles, we cleared a place for it in our living room. Matt was trying to get the tree in the stand, but it wouldn't cooperate. It kept falling every time we let go of it...not a good thing! Matt was frustrated and dragged the tree back outside to "fix" the problem. Meanwhile, I was upstairs playing with Walker. I came back downstairs to find this....(minus the decorations. Believe it or not the decorations help tremendously!)

I feel over laughing. Matt had trimmed off the bottom branches and left us with half of a Christmas tree!! The tree skirt hides another large portion of the trunk. Needless to say, we immediately moved the tree to another room and went to Lowe's to purchase a new tree. Everyone who came to our home during the month of December had plenty to comments! Here is a picture of the new tree.

2 Months Old

Walker had his 2 month appointment yesterday. We both survived the shots! I was so nervous! He slept a big portion of the day and wouldn't let me put him down. It was such a good excuse just to hold my baby and not get anything else done all day.

Here are his latest stats:

Weight: 13 pounds 10 ounces - 90th percentile!! This would explain why he is wearing 3-6 month clothes

Length: 24 inches - 80th percentile

Head: 15 1/2 - 30th percentile

Walker has grown like crazy! The doctor asked me yesterday if I feed him based on hunger cues or all day just to pacify him. Seriously!? I know that he looks like he eats all day, but I feed based on hunger cues, the little fella just loves to eat! Look at how much Walker has grown and changed in just one month!

Country Livin'

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend! But the weekend didn't start out that way.....our car battery died in a gas station parking lot. After waiting in a chilly car for almost an hour a tow truck came and jumped us and then we headed to Wal-Mart to get a new battery. It seemed like it took us forever to get to our destination! Not to mention, Matt delayed us even further by trying to stop at 4 Dairy Queen's to get ice cream...they were all closed. We finally arrived at my parent's cabin outside of Crockett at 11:30pm. We were out of the city....Welcome to the country, y'all!! It was so nice for Walker and I to finally have a change of scenery. The weather was great and the fall trees were gorgeous. The weekend was filled with eating, fishing, hunting, making wreaths, eating, going to walks and more eating. On the way back to Dallas we stopped through Palestine to cut down our Christmas tree. Walker behaved wonderfully and just loved being held the whole weekend.

As You Requested..

I have had a couple of friends and family members asking, "What is going on at the Zolfo Zoo?" Well, we have been MIA for a couple of weeks. We have been so busy and I haven't had time to update and add pictures lately, but you can breathe a sigh of relief because we are back! So, as you requested....here is what we have been up to lately: Walker is smiling!, Baxter has been stealing and eating Walker's pacifiers (yes, eating them!), we have been doing a little shopping, had a couple of friends over for lunch, Vivi and Daddy D came to visit, Matt and Daddy D kept Walker one day while I finished some Christmas shopping, Walker has been getting even chubbier, we have been getting down all of the Christmas stuff and started some of the decorating, we have been wrapping presents, packing to head to the cabin for Thanksgiving and tons of other things!!

Walker is definitely more alert these days. The days of the long naps are quickly fading. He is awake, alert and wanting to check everything out, which means that I am acutally gettting pictures of him awake, instead of sleeping! It is just so much fun to watch his facial expressions and him discovering new things. I could just stare at him for hours! He has finally starting smiling more consistently...yay!! Walker would only smile when we were alone and Matt wasn't home, so of course, Matt didn't believe me. Matt had to see the smile for himself. Well, Walker finally made a believer out of his papa and gave him a big toothless grin!
